PuroPost Announcement

June 4, 2013 – Toronto - Purolator International has announced a new economical shipping solution for Business to Consumer (B2C) shipments between the United States and Canada.  The service, called PuroPost, takes an innovative approach to providing guaranteed service to residential locations in Canada within 2-8 days.  PuroPost provides B2C shipping services to all Canadian postal codes giving it the ability to reach 34 million Canadians.  Benefits include nationwide coverage, faster speed across the border and zone pricing.

“PuroPost was conceptualized in direct response to customer feedback,” says Jon Routledge, Purolator International Vice President for Sales and Marketing.  “The market was lacking a cost efficient way to transport shipments to Canadian customers.  We took stock of our existing capabilities, and realized that Purolator was exactly the right company to offer a solution.”

“In addition to our existing features,” he added, “our partnership with Canada Post, Canada’s primary mail delivery service, makes it possible to offer direct access to over 98 percent of the Canadian population.”

PuroPost takes advantage of Purolator’s extensive U.S. and Canadian distribution networks, as well as the company’s unique capabilities in Canada.  PuroPost offers guaranteed delivery with transit times matching standard ground trans-border services in the industry.  There are fewer hand-offs prior to end-delivery at Canadian mailing addresses, including homes and apartments, P.O. boxes even in remote locations.

With PuroPost, Canadian consumers receive their on-time delivery from their familiar Canada Post uniformed delivery person.  Additionally, consumers will benefit from a high degree of visibility.  Notifications are sent when a package is shipped, and again when delivery has been made. Customers can track their packages online throughout the process.

“When a PuroPost shipment reaches the border,” Routledge explains, “that’s where our 50+ years of experience in the Canadian market is essential.  Our customs and regulatory expertise ensure that shipments are fully compliant with all mandates and regulations.  We ensure that all duties, taxes, and fees are paid up front, so customers will not be surprised with an unexpected bill at delivery.  And, because we have ‘trusted trade partner’ status with both the U.S. and Canadian governments, shipments generally arrive at the border pre-cleared.”

Businesses that use PuroPost for shipping products to their customers are supported by Purolator International’s industry-leading customer service, which provides a dedicated client relations representative to oversee all aspects of service.

“We expect PuroPost to be a game changer in providing an economical solution for cross border B2C service,” Routledge said.  “We essentially eliminate the border as an obstacle, and offer guaranteed delivery at a very affordable price point.”
