Ryder Chairman and CEO to Deliver Keynote Address at the 2012 Alternative Clean Transportation Expo

March 20, 2012 – Santa Monica, Calif. – Gladstein, Neandross and Associates (GNA), organizers of the 2012 Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, today announced that Gregory T. Swienton, chairman and chief executive officer of Ryder System, Inc. (Ryder), a leader in commercial transportation and supply chain solutions, will deliver a keynote address at the conference on May 17 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif.
Sponsored by the nation’s leading OEMs, fuel suppliers and vehicle technology providers, ACT Expo is North America’s largest alternative fuel and clean vehicle technology event dedicated to all alternative fuel types. The annual event, held from May 15 to May 17, includes three days of conference sessions, training opportunities, technology and vehicle displays in the expo hall, and a ride-and-drive.
“The addition of Greg Swienton to the ACT Expo is an indicator of the strong interest and support for alternative fuels in the commercial fleet sector,” stated Erik Neandross, chief executive officer of GNA. “As the first fleet provider to make heavy-duty natural gas vehicles available for lease and rental on a large scale, Ryder is a leader in the alternative fuels space and has made a significant commitment to provide companies with new technologies to meet their sustainability objectives. The attendees at ACT will benefit greatly from hearing firsthand how Ryder is expanding acceptance of and access to clean vehicle technologies throughout markets in North America.”
In his keynote address at the 2012 ACT Expo, Swienton will discuss Ryder’s leadership and commitment to trucks powered by compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), and hybrid electric drive systems. Swienton will provide an update on Ryder’s multiple public-private partnerships to deploy hundreds of heavy-duty natural gas powered trucks in its Southern California network as well as in Arizona, Michigan and elsewhere. Ryder has also recently introduced their “Flex-to-Green” program, a flexible lease program that provides the maintenance and service benefits of a standard Ryder Full Service Lease with the flexible option to replace a leased diesel vehicle with a natural gas-powered vehicle
As North America’s largest convergence of alternative fuels stakeholders each year, ACT Expo attracts thousands of attendees for cutting-edge discussions about the economic, environmental, and energy-security benefits of alternative fuel use in transportation. Program topics for the 2012 agenda will include a focus on electrification of the transportation industry, the development of national infrastructure systems, a spotlight on the investment decision making process, and a discussion on how fleets can move past the tipping point and integrate large-scale deployments of AFVs into their fleet operations. The 100,000 square foot expo hall will complement this program by featuring an exceptional array of advanced transportation and alternative fuel vehicles, equipment and technologies; it will be open to the public on May 16 and 17.
