TNT Post UK bags Tesco: One of largest postal deals in UK, up to 180 million items per year

London 22 March: TNT Post, Britain’s largest private postal operator, has been appointed by Tesco to manage one of the country’s largest mail contracts, handling up to 180 million items per year.

The deal, which began in February, will see TNT Post handle mailings for a range of Tesco initiatives, including all customer communications from Tesco Clubcard and Tesco Bank.  Its Clubcard scheme alone sends several mailings per year to more than 15 million households.

The contract of up to 180 million items a year is one of the most sought after in the postal sector, and was awarded following a competitive process. Following the appointment, Nick Wells, CEO TNT Post said in a press release:

“Winning Tesco as a client is a great coup for TNT Post and we are proud that our robust operational capability, combined with excellent customer service, and of course value for money, shone through in the tender process.

“We are looking forward to working in partnership with the Tesco team to develop and enhance their mailing capabilities and communication with customers.”

TNT Post has grown significantly in the past eight years and now handles in excess of 3.5 billion items of mail a year.  It delivers mail for household names such as Barclays, BT, Centrica, Lloyds TSB, npower, Sky and most recently EON.  It also has gained clients in the public sector and won many small business contracts through its regional network.
