DB Schenker Logistics: 40 years of success in Singapore

(Berlin/Essen/Singapore, October 7, 2010) DB Schenker Logistics in Singapore celebrates its 40th anniversary today. Within four decades, Schenker Singapore (Pte) Ltd. has developed from being the first European air freight forwarder to serve the extreme south of Asia to a market leader for integrated logistics, with a team of more than 1,250 employees.

In 1998, USD 29 million were invested to set up the multifunctional Schenker Logistics Centre. The DB Schenker Megahub was established in 2006. Located within the Free Trade Zone, it is the biggest freight and logistics facility in the Airport Logistics Park of Singapore. These flagship facilities form the basis of a state-of-the-art logistics hub for the Asia-Pacific region and in the global exchange of goods.

The year 2007 earmarked a further milestone in the development of Schenker Singapore (Pte) Ltd. to becoming a key player in the logistics industry. On 1st May 2007, the BAX Global Pte Ltd Singapore office successfully merged operations with DB Schenker Logistics in Singapore.

Today, DB Schenker Logistics in Singapore has 15 office and warehouse locations, with about 178,000 square meters of modern warehousing space. Schenker Singapore (Pte) Ltd provides integrated services to a wide spectrum of verticals, such as aeroparts, healthcare, marineparts, automotive, high-tech, oil and gas, fairs, projects, semicon and solar. Singapore also hosts DB Schenker’s Regional Head Office Asia-Pacific which steers the activities of around 11,000 employees working at over 200 locations in 18 countries.
